Software Pick 2 - CDwinder
Topic: Software Pick of the week

This software is for those people who burn lots and lots of cd's

I came upon this software fairly recently....

Some times you run out of room on the cd to write all its contents... and just when you need or want a specific file you cant find it....
Its called cdwinder and all it basically does is store information about the contents of each and every one of you cd's.....Very easy to use...

All you do is insert the cd while the software is running and it will create a disc image of all the contents....

And you can easily organize the files by their extensions... If for instance the file is an mpeg, avi, gvp, you can categorize it as a video file...

You can also batch create cd images... so all you have to do is go on inserting the cd's or dvds.... and it quickly copies the data to your harddrive...

In this way it becomes really easy to find the file you need...

It may not have the greatest interface... But what it lacks in interface it makes up in functionality....

Here is a download link...

Computer Tip 1- Remove crappy startup programs
Topic: Computer tip

This is a simple yet effective method to eliminate all those bs programs that come up on startup....

You go to START > RUN then type msconfig.... im sure most of you already know about this....

Your system configuration utility pops up.... Then you just go to the startup tab and turn off whichever programs that you want that you can recognize.....

I stress this dont turn off programs that you dont know about....Dont think that its a smart thing just to turn off all of them... tht might be just as bad since everytime you strt your comp you will have to manually enable these programs....

So useful.... It can really help.... Especially for comp newbies....

I cannot be held responsible for anything tht happens to your comp.... However there should be no problems...... Njoy ;)

Gadget 1- RFID Fridge
Topic: Gadget of the week

Everytime me and my roomate go shopping we incessantly forget to get the one crucial ingrediant that is necessary for what we are planning to make...

Its a real pain having to go shopping again midweek....

Or sometimes we forget to check whether the milk is expired or not.... and take a swig only to realize that it is way passed the due date....

So my gadget of the week is this cool new RFID fridge which samsung plans to release in either 2008 or 2009....

What it basically does is that it reads the info from the barcode and coordinates this information with the internet, and it will tell you when products expire.....

It will also tell you  when you are low on groceries.... and generate lists based on what you are low on.... so that next time you are in the supermarket you can get all the groceries that you need....

A really cool feature that is still in testing is that this fridge will generate a list of things you can make based on what you have in your fridge and generate recipes....

Here is a pic of what the fridge will supposedly look like...

Tech News 1- IBM breakthrough in chip design
Topic: Tech News

In the computer engineering field one of the biggest stories has been by IBM, and their breakthrough in the field of  computer chips. They came up with this interesting design for a new revolution of processor chips. It is a 3D processor chip, it deviates from the conventional processor chip which is limited to two dimensions. Research in this 3d stacking technology has been going on for the better part of a decade. What makes 3d chip stacking so important is that it reduces the path that data has to travel by 1000 times. So the speed of the processor increases tremendously. It also vastly increases power effiency. Lisa Su Vice president of IBM was heavily involved in coordinating this project. Importantly IBM will be manufacturing demo samples in late 2007. Can't wait to get my hands on a chip like this!!!

They also have this cool feature where you can keep anytime files...This just means that you can access you files even when the computer is turned off...
